Brass bound leather trunk by Handford
An early 19th. Century Brass Bound Black Leather campaign box, the hinged top with an inset brass handle, the front with a Bramah lock and key above a brass plaque bearing the maker’s name, address and the Royal Coat of Arms.

Note: The overlapping brass strips along the edges of the lid sre designed to form a waterproof seal making the box sea worthy. Two locating lugs set in the front corners of the inside of the lid give the box additional strength and a pair of brass quadrant stays allow the lid to stay open at 90 degrees. The Bramah lock retains the original key.
