A very good William IV period gentleman’s travelling dressing case with the original outer leather case bearing the initials CBSW, the dressing case executed in red Morocco hide and fitted inside with silver mounts by Archibald Douglas hallmarked for London 1836 and traces of gilding extant to the outer silver, the insides all silver gilt.

The tray removes to show further fittings, razors etc. The razors are signed “Joseph Rodgers & Son Cutlers to their Majesties, No.6 Norfolk Street, Sheffield-The lock is signed J T Needs 128 Piccadilly, Late J Bramah 124 Piccadilly and the box retains the original key and has an inset gilt brass carrying handle to the top which also retains traces of the original gilding. The top is also stamped in gold “CBSW from JSW”
