An Officer's fine red leather Dress Belt

An Officer’s dress belt in fine red leather, faced in gilt and velvet with original buckles and ornamental gilt buckle.  The buckle has a circle of laurel leaves surrounding a silver lion standing on a crown  The buckle is stamped with the name “FIRMIN” the oldest manufacturers of militaria in the world and still extant today.   This belt was probably made for Lt A A D Weigall, whose Regiment was the 57th (West Middlesex).  Lt Weigall was gazetted Lt Colonel on November 28 1876, and died during the Regiment’s campaign on the North West Frontier.
