William and Mary Period Oyster Veneered Laburnum Chest of Drawers

£25,000.00

Circa 1700

A superbly rare William and Mary Period Oyster Veneered Laburnum and Inlaid Chest of Drawers of neat small proportions. The rectangular top is inlaid in a central radiating daisy motif with lines of Boxwood stringing and quadrant corners within a banding of Holly wood.

Height: 32.5” / 82.5cm  x Width: 32” / 81cm x Depth: 21” / 53.5cm

The rectangular top inlaid in a central radiating daisy motif with lines of Boxwood stringing and quadrant corners within a banding of Holly and with a moulded edge all above two half width and three full width graduated drawers with bandings of Holly within semi ovulo mouldings to the carcass, the sides with a centre lozenge within Holly Bandings and Oysters, the whole raised on Bun Feet. It is always encouraging in pieces of this period to see all the mouldings are crossgrain and made up from short sections backed onto pine which produces an almost bamboo like effect over 300 years as a small amount of shrinkage takes place.

Delivery in the UK mainland is included in the marked price.
