A pretty and small Queen Anne Period Oval Oak Gate-Legged Table with a dummy drawer to the frieze and raised on column turned legs with “Spanish” feet. This model is typical of those produced in the south-eastern counties of England at the start of the 18th. century.

The Spanish Foot which we see here is related to the reign of Charles II who was married to Catherine of Braganza and after he became King in 1660 a number of pieces of Iberian furniture with a similar foot to this apparently appeared at The Court setting the fashion for English cabinetmakers to interpret the style.
